Buying Property in
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Property in Victoria:  Canadians and non-Canadians alike might relish the thought of buying property in Victoria, B.C. Canada.  Victoria, the crown jewel of British Columbia, is one of the world's most enchanting cities.  Whether you want to live in the city, or merely invest, there are few barriers and many great advantages to buying Victoria property.  Canada has essentially no restrictions on foreign ownership of land and property, and has generous immigration policies to permit qualified people to become landed immigrants in short order.  Victoria property values are presently low by world standards, but increasing rapidly--up 18% in the last twelve months!  The average single-family home is now at $270,000 US Dollars.

Climate
: This area is the sunniest spot in the province and has Canada’s finest--almost Mediterranean--climate.  Spring arrives early in February, and summer stays to late September.  Summer is comfortably warm and dry with temperatures from 18° to 32°C (65° to 90°F). Victoria has a very low humidity ratio and almost constant yet gentle offshore breezes, which keep summer days from becoming too hot.

Culture
:  Victoria's unique character is deeply rooted in its 150-year history.  The city's British colonial heritage is still very much in evidence, but contemporary Victoria has a distinctly Pacific Northwest flavour.  In keeping with its status as a Provincial capital city, Victoria
has all the amenities of a big city, including a Symphony and Opera, yet retains the friendly atmosphere of a small town.  Sailing, golf, salmon fishing, and skiing are all popular in the area.

Economy
:  Today, Victoria is best known as the capital city of the Province of British Columbia, and as a world-renowned tourism destination. Other mainstays of the local economy include the Provincial Government, The Canadian Pacific Fleet Naval base in Esquimalt, and the University of Victoria—rated as one of Canada
’s top three universities.

Size & Geography
:  Located at the Southern tip of Vancouver Island, on the West Coast, Victoria is a two hour ferry ride, or 20 minute flight, to Vancouver, Canada’s third largest city.  Seattle, USA is a short and scenic ferry trip.  Greater Victoria has a population of 300,000, and covers an area approximately 25 by 20 Km.  The City is surrounded on three sides by the protected waters of the Georgia and Juan de Fuca straits, and has a beautiful diverse topography that includes farmland, mountains, and fjords.
